The Department of Natural Resources conducts an annual source water assessment to determine the susceptibility of the City's water source to potential contaminants. Once again, the City's report is CLEAN for 2011!
The sole source of the City's water is ground water. And like all water sources, including lakes, rivers, ponds, streams, reservoirs, and groundwater wells, as the water travels over the surface of the land and/or through the ground, it dissolves naturally-occurring minerals, but can pickup the occasional presence of animal and human activity. The Missouri Department of Natural Resources regulates our water system and requires us to test the water on a regular basis to ensure its safety. The City has seven groundwater wells, five on the East side and two on the West side, all of which are tested and maintained regularly.
The full 2011 Water Quality Report, as well as past reports, may be downloaded from the Water Department's web page. The Water Quality Reports are intended to provide the public with important information about our City's water and the continuous efforts made to provide safe drinking water.
