David Severson, Police Chief for the City of Osage Beach since August 15, 2005, will be retiring effective June 30, 2011 due to medical reasons. The Mayor and Board of Aldermen will be hosting a retirement reception for Dave on July 6th, 2 - 4 PM.
Chief Severson moved to Osage Beach in 2004 after taking an early retirement from the City of Anaheim (California) Police Department. He has a Masters Degree from Newport University, Newport Beach, California, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy.
As Police Chief for the City of Osage Beach, Dave served as Executive Director of the Lake Area Law Enforcement Partnership; as both Vice Chairman and Chairman for the Region’s Homeland Security Oversight Committee; as Executive Director of the Central Missouri Regional Justice Information System which provided grant funding for the Regional Technology Project; as Chairman of Citizens Against Domestic Violence (CADV) which ensured grant funding for the new shelter building; actively participated in training and activities for both the Missouri Police Chiefs Association and the FBI National Academy Association; implemented a successful Neighborhood Policing Plan and led the most successful Polar Bear Plunges ever in the State of Missouri.
Dave, his wife Laura and son Jeff reside in Osage Beach. Jeff is a student at the Missouri University of Science and Technology at Rolla, and their other son, Eric, is Naval Helicopter Pilot, currently stationed in Afghanistan.
The Mayor and Board of Aldermen will be hosting a retirement reception for Dave. Please join us on Wednesday, July 6th from 2 – 4 p.m., to honor Dave’s years of loyal and dedicated service to the City of Osage Beach.
