[ARCHIVED] Polar Plunge for Special Olympics - Missouri (SOMO)!

Yes, it's that time of year again for many people to be Freezin' for a Reason! Starting Friday, February 26th the Super Plunge & Pee Wee Plunge; Saturday the Polar Plunge and Strut with an After Party! All are Welcome!

This year the OBPD Polar activities started with the Save the Beard Campaign! On January 27th Osage Beach Police Officers & Department Personnel started growing their beards to spread awareness and raise money for SOMO athletes. This team of dedicated Officers and personnel put away their razors and pledged to raise at least $75.00 to save his beard for a month!

Don't think the ladies felt left out. They too joined in on the fun with their team the "Bearded Beauties"!

Friday, February 19th OBPD held their annual Cops On Top event on the roof of Hy-Vee Convenience Store and raised over $5,000.00!

Friday, February 26th is the Super Plunge where you can find OBPD's own Chief of Police, Todd Davis and Administrative Lieutenant, Michael O'Day, plunging into the freezing Lake of the Ozarks 24 times in 24 hours!

Have little ones that want to plunge? Check out the Pee Wee Plunge, at Public Beach #2 with registration opening at 5:30 p.m. For $25 your little one can plunge into a pool set up under a tent where the Super Plungers are plunging!

Then the rest of the community can all join in by Freezin' for a Reason too! The Polar 5K Strut will be held at City Hall with registration beginning at 8:00 am and strutting beginning at 10:00. Then head to Public Beach #2 to plunge yourself into the icy cold water! Registration opens at 12:00 with the first plunge at 2:30.

At the very least come watch the fun of others "Freezin' for a Reason!"

Once everyone is frozen, head on out to Tan-Tar-A where you can thaw out at the "After-Party" with food, drink, dancing and a silent and live auction! You can also vote on the "Best Beard" for the Save the Beard contestants.

There's fun for everyone! So come out and help SOMO athletes!
