First storm of the season expected to be severe
The Osage Beach Public Works activated Winter Weather Operations at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, Jan 4 in preparation for severe winter weather. The Transportation Department is on call 24/7 and will be working to treat and clear roads throughout the storm. If your water meter freezes, please contact Public Works immediately to request a disconnect.*
Missouri’s first winter storm of the season is expected to be severe, with several factors making it more impactful than usual. Nearly the entire state will be affected, with the storm lasting from Saturday evening on Jan 4. through early Monday, Jan. 6. The mix of snow, sleet, and freezing rain could result in up to a foot of snow in some areas and up to ½ inch of ice in others. Winds will gust to 30-35 mph, and extreme cold will follow the storm. These conditions could slow road clearing efforts, lead to power outages, and extend restoration times.
We are taking all necessary precautions and urge residents to stay home if possible. Do NOT take unnecessary risks. If you experience an emergency, dial 911. The Osage Beach Police Department is on alert and ready to respond.

Public Works offers courtesy meter disconnects to customers. If your water meter pit freezes, call Public Works immediately, no matter the time of day. To make a request, call (573) 302-2020 during business hours. After hours, call police dispatch at (573) 302-2010. Requests are addressed in the order they are received. Meters are easily damaged, so please don’t try to turn off the valve yourself.
