Waste Oil has the most negative environmental impact of all automotive products because it's insoluble, persistent, and contains toxic chemicals and heavy metals. It floats on and pollutes our waterways, it is slow to degrade and evaporate, and even a small amount can seriously contaminate large quantities of drinking water. Used oil placed on the ground can seep through the earth and contribute to leaching and contamination of ground water.
How can you help?
Recycle used oil from cars, boats, motorcycles, and other equipment. In a clean, sealed container, bring your used oil to the Osage Beach Waste Oil Recycling Depot, located at the City's Public Works facility.
The Waste Oil Recycling Depot is open year-round.
